SAP helps Taronga to drive automation

Taronga Conservation Society Australia has streamlined its enterprise reporting by implementing SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), allowing more time to be spent on wildlife conservation work.

The implementation gives Taronga’s executive team instant access to critical data-driven insight from across the organisation, providing greater insights into important commercial aspects such as guest feedback, admission trends, ticket sales and marketing effectiveness. The suite of reporting dashboards presents key financial and operational performance metrics in an intuitive, easy-to-consume format, providing Taronga executives with the information they need for pivotal, real-time decision-making.

Taronga’s goal was to drive further efficiencies in support of its critical conservation work, following the successful migration of the organisation’s ERP system to SAP S4/HANA Cloud. With SAC, Taronga has simplified and modernised its manual and time-intensive data consolidation and reporting processes through automation, reducing by 50% the time required to prepare Taronga’s monthly management reporting packs. More importantly, the automation and improved insights enable Taronga staff to devote more time to higher-value, strategic work, including allowing them to develop new ways to attract visitors and boost membership numbers.

“It’s not often that you associate back-office technology solutions with wildlife conservation, but SAP has helped us to not only find operational efficiencies and cost savings, but to view the data that we gather in a way that ultimately helps us better deliver on our commitment to the conservation of wildlife in Australia and around the world. We have moved from having a limited but not fully integrated business intelligence experience to a state-of-the-art analytics and planning platform. Our long-term partnership with SAP has been instrumental in ensuring success of this SAP Analytics Cloud integration,” said Mark Kemp, Project Manager, Information & Digital Technology, Taronga Conservation Society Australia.

The implementation of SAC was driven jointly by SAP Cloud Success Services and Industries & Customer Advisory Innovation Experience, with the integration requiring the consolidation of data from disparate SAP and non-SAP source systems into a single, unified analytics platform with consistent data structures.

“The implementation of SAP Analytics Cloud provides Taronga with instant access to data from across its organisation, from ticket sales to admissions trends and guest feedback. This greater level of insight enables Taronga’s executive team to make more informed decisions and develop new strategies to attract visitors, boost memberships and, ultimately, support its conservation work,” said Damien Bueno, President and Managing Director, SAP Australia and New Zealand.

“We’re proud of our longstanding relationship with Taronga and how we have supported it to take full advantage of its data, streamline operations and find new opportunities to bolster its conversation efforts, and look forward to this continuing in the future.”

Taronga plans to roll out the reporting dashboards powered by SAC across finance, procurement, payroll and human resources in the near future.
