WA Health taps Atos for HealthNext program
European IT services company Atos has secured a $124 million contract to support the Western Australia Department of Health's HealthNext digital transformation program.
Under the five-year agreement, Atos will work with WA Health's ICT service provider, Health Support Services, to transition the Department's legacy infrastructure to Atos cloud-based platforms.
Atos will utilise GovNext-ICT services to provide a hybrid cloud to WA Health that is backed by a recurrent consumption model which will scale and shrink as required.
The scope of the contract covers the delivery of private cloud, managed public cloud, hybrid cloud orchestration, colocation and managed services for 2000 servers, over 1000 applications and a managed Oracle Cloud platform.
The latter platform will be powered by both Oracle and Exadata cloud machines, and orchestrated into an Atos hybrid cloud-based environment.
"The HealthNext transition program represents an opportunity to improve the way WA Health utilises and delivers ICT services to support the provision of health care to the WA community," Health Support Services CIO Holger Kaufmann said.
"A modern and contemporary cloud-based ICT system will enable us to respond better to innovation that will help improve patient care and reduce unnecessary duplication."
