Dimension Data to supply new Qld Govt office
Dimension Data has secured a contract to provide network infrastructure and collaboration services for the Queensland Government's new William Street offices in Brisbane.
The new offices are expected to open next year. The 120,000 m2 building at 1 William Street will house more than 5400 public services including representatives of most government agencies.
Dimension Data will provide service including real-time video collaboration as a service over the company's cloud infrastructure.
The range of services will be designed to help the government achieve greater cross-agency collaboration, mobility and flexibility, as well as reduce costs through a common ICT service model.
Implementation of the IT services is expected to be complete by 1 July next year. Dimension Data secured the contract through a procurement process.
Dimension Data Australia CEO Rodd Cunico commented that with the contract the state government is demonstrating that it understands that traditional IT delivery models don't fit today's digitally defined world.
“Rather than adhering to the old-world model of purchasing and operating IT internally, the government has embraced a consumption model, where it only pays for the services it uses," he said.
“This not only dramatically reduces the total cost of ownership of its IT infrastructure, but also ensures thousands of public servants can work smarter and collaborate more effectively."
