Ipswich City Council developing 5D data model
Ipswich City Council and software company Cohga are developing a 5D model for visual collaboration of city data as part of the Ipswich Smart City program.
A solution developed by the partners to provide all staff with easy access to spatial and non-spatial information was awarded the Spatial Enablement category during Queensland Spatial Excellence Awards in December.
This solution will serve as the foundation for the 5G data modelling initiative, which seeks to combine a range of corporate information and systems from the Ipswich Smart City program to improve city planning and management.
The project will start with a 3D digital model of above- and below-ground city infrastructure, and overlay the dimensions of date and time to create a 5G data visualisation. The initiative also aims to integrate council data with state and federal government, telecommunications and utility data.
The next phase of the project will involve the deployment of the Cohga External Mapping Solution as well as the extension of the 5D model platform and data pilot initiative.
Melbourne-based Cohga is the developer of Weave, a business integration framework developed using open and vendor-independent technology.
