Treasury using virtualisation to complete Budget
The Commonwealth Treasury is using Nutanix technology to help deliver the Budget and for its other core business applications.
Nutanix’s hyperconverged technology serves as the platform for the Treasury’s core business applications, including its Budget Management System.
The implementation allows Treasury employees to have interrupted access to key Treasury applications on any device and from any location.
Nutanix’s web-scale technology is being used to support the Treasury’s virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), which comprises up to 850 endpoints.
The department is also using the platform for other projects, including economic and tax modelling applications.
Canberra-based ICT services provider Qirx designed and installed the Treasury’s Nutanix-based VDI environment and plans to work with Nutanix to help meet the Treasury’s application and VDI requirements as they expand.
“Without our various internal systems, and, in particular, the BMS, we can’t produce the Budget,” Commonwealth Treasury CTO Ricardo Alberto said.
“With our applications running on Nutanix, our teams have the information they need to inform the Budget and other key policy issues. It doesn’t matter whether they are at their desks or travelling, the tools are always there so the job can be done without delay.”
