Victoria SES digital update
Tuesday, 14 June, 2016
The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) announced it will use Permeance Technologies to build a new website and intranet based on the open source Liferay platform.
VICSES, Victoria’s control agency for natural disasters and road crash rescue services, said it has decided to move to the same platform used by Country Fire Authority (CFA) due to changing business needs and growing collaboration requirements between the two organisations.
Permeance is developing the new sites and services within ESPoint, the company’s framework for emergency sector digital development and delivery, and will provide a fully managed service. The platform will help manage information flows between its 5000 volunteers and staff, and the public.
“We were looking for a strategic partner with credible Liferay experience who could help us on our digital journey. We found Permeance,” said Victoria SES Chief Executive Officer Stephen Griffin.
“With their experience and existing working relationship with CFA, we have confidence that they will be that strong and strategic partner who can help us communicate with the public, volunteers and staff; developing new and better ways to deliver information to the right people in the easiest way at the right time.”
Shayne Tanner, director of Permeance Technologies, said that with a focus on prevention, planning for and responding to a broad range of emergency situations, Permeance can provide the digital toolset to assist in the protection of communities and their livelihoods.
“We believe in ESPoint, and we’re delighted that VICSES also does,” he said.
