NEC founding digital government Centre of Excellence in Perth
NEC Australia has chosen Perth as the location for its new Australian Centre of Excellence in digital government, building on its 30-year established presence in WA.
The company says its ‘case management as a service’ solution, WorkZone, forms the cornerstone of its digital government offering. Originally developed by Danish company KMD (a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation), WorkZone caters to changing service level expectations and data compliance requirements. Denmark has been recognised by the United Nations as the leading provider of digital government services to its citizens, with 70% of the nation’s government processes running on the WorkZone solution.
NEC Australia CEO Jason Price said Perth was the ideal market to establish its Australian Centre of Excellence due to a solid relationship with the state’s government.
“A key factor in our decision to select Perth was the significant resources and experience we have working alongside the Western Australian Government on a range of critical projects, and a shared appetite to improve outcomes and interactions between their citizens and agencies,” Price said.
“NEC has been a major services provider to the Western Australian Government over many years and has deep knowledge of our customers’ issues and recognition of the maturity of many government agencies in their digital transformation journey.
“Working closely with our global Centre of Excellence in Denmark, Perth is perfectly placed to drive expansion across the nation and demonstrate NEC’s digital government capabilities at scale,” he said.
The Centre of Excellence in digital government is scheduled to commence operation in mid-August and will lift NEC’s WA presence to more than 100 staff.
