Over 20,000 NSW digital licences since Nov
Service NSW has announced that more than 20,000 people have signed up for the state's new digital licences since their launch in November last year.
The department has so far introduced digital versions of its Recreational Fishing, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) licences via the Service NSW App.
The new platform allows licence holders to view the details of their licence online and submit changes to details and applications for renewal if required.
Service NSW CEO Dr Rachna Gandhi said digital licences are more convenient and secure than their physical counterparts.
“Digital licences are always with you — as long as you have your phone, you’ll have your licence... While a licence card may be lost or stolen, digital licences are only accessible via the Service NSW app once you’ve entered a unique passcode,” she said.
Gandhi said work is underway to migrate more licence types to the platform.
Liquor and Gaming NSW Deputy Secretary Paul Newson added that the new digital licence holders include around 14,000 hospitality workers across the state.
“Digital licences make it easy for venue owners and Liquor & Gaming NSW officers to conduct compliance checks, as well as providing a solution to the problem of staff forgetting to bring their physical cards to work,” he said.
“I encourage more of the state’s 456,000 hospitality workers to make the switch to digital RSA and RCG licences.”
