Single view of traffic for Transport for NSW

Salesforce has announced it will underpin OneRoad, a new backend system for Live Traffic NSW being used by Transport for NSW.

OneRoad is a geospatial case management system, combining incident mapping capability with record management and reporting.

Transport and local councils can log incident information into the OneRoad platform in real time or schedule it for a date in the future. OneRoad then rapidly feeds this data to the Transport for NSW Open Data Hub, which is then used by Live Traffic NSW and third-party navigation apps to allow the public to view updates quickly and visually.

For the first time, local councils are being invited to use this new platform to enter incident information on their own local roads. By inviting all 128 local councils in NSW to take advantage of this new technology, Live Traffic NSW will be able to display updated information on traffic conditions, incidents, hazards and major events on all roads in NSW. Having this information visible in a single place will be integral to providing fast and timely information, especially in the case of bushfires, floods and other emergencies.

The rollout of OneRoad to local councils will occur in stages. The first stage began last week, with 22 local government areas (LGA) coming online. The remaining 106 LGAs will progressively follow, with regional local councils prioritised due to the impact of bushfires and floods on those communities, before local councils in Greater Sydney.

“I am very proud of the solution that my team and vendors have built. We have proven that the Salesforce platform is very robust and can meet the complex business requirements needed for this project. I am proud to see the positive effect this solution is having and will have in the future to the people of NSW that use our extensive road network,” said Chris Ronnie, Transport for NSW Senior Manager, Products and Application Services, CRM Practice.
