Australia Post names new CIO

Australia Post has appointed a new CIO, after almost a year of searching, and is on the lookout for a new CISO.

The organisation has confirmed that it has selected John Cox, the divisional CIO of NAB banking and markets, to take the role of permanent CIO.

Cox has been serving in various IT leadership roles at NAB since 2008. He has also worked in Accenture, offering management consulting, and at SuperPartners, providing IT project delivery.

He will be replacing Tony Gustin, who is currently serving as caretaker CIO. He will assume his new role in mid-August.

Former permanent CIO Andrew Walduck was promoted to head of Australia Post’s new dedicated e-commerce unit last year, leaving the organisation searching for a permanent replacement.

Online sources separately reported that former Australia Post CISO Troy Braban has left the role to join JP Morgan’s corporate IT security division in New York.

Braban has been serving as CISO of Australia Post for the past four years, where he concentrated on fostering a risk-based security approach. He oversaw the expansion of Australia Post’s IT security team from just seven workers to more than 35.

Australia Post is reportedly now hunting for a replacement for Braban.
