Defence renews IT support contract with Unisys

The Australian Department of Defence has awarded Unisys a two-year contract extension to continue providing IT support at 450 Defence locations across Australia.

The deal, worth an estimated $74 million, covers 100,000 end users. The contract will run until October 2018.

Unisys also provides support for joint service and international military exercises, as well as emergency disaster responses including floods and bushfires.

The company first took on the contract in 2008, and has since standardised Defence Department IT support processes nationally.

The company delivers services using a flexible workforce model based on man-hour capacity and prioritised services, to give the department price predictability and control over where workforce efforts are focused.

“We are delighted to continue our work with the Australian Department of Defence,” Unisys Asia Pacific Public Sector Lead Lysandra Schmutter said.

“Our renewal with the Department of Defence is a testament to the value we collectively have brought to provide a high quality of services and insights to support the critical operations across their bases nationwide.”

Unisys has around 300 government agency customers worldwide. In Australia this includes state and federal departments such as the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection, the Australian National Audit Office and the Queensland Department of Education and Training.
