NSW Department of Finance seeking group CIO

The New South Wales Department of Finance has embarked on a hunt to find a new group CIO to replace former incumbent Malcolm Freame.

The department has published a job advertisement seeking candidates with a proven track record in a C-level or head of IT role.

Successful candidates will need leadership experience and a proven ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders during periods of upheaval.

The new group CIO will also need a proven track record in strong fiscal management, as he or she will be responsible for leading the department’s technology investment strategy and introducing sound controls on ICT expenditure.

The new group CIO will be responsible for driving technology change across the department as it changes the way it operates. The listing stipulates a total remuneration package of between $252,858 and $284,186, depending on the winning candidate’s skills and experience.

“You will bring a keen focus developing technology solutions as a business partner, and you will lead delivery and execution of those solutions. Listening and influencing across the diverse lines of business, you will ensure strategy execution grounded with sound governance,” the listing reads.

Former group CIO Malcolm Freame has left the role after five years to focus on vendor management for government services.
