Qld State Development dept looking for CIO

The Queensland Department of State Development is on the hunt for a new CIO to replace acting technology chief Mike D’Arcy.

D’Arcy has been serving as acting CIO since the resignation of Mark Cushing from the role over a year ago.

While a listing for the position specifies a six-month contract, it adds that there is room for a possible extension.

The chosen applicant will take overall responsibility for the department’s ICT services, including the management of technology budgets and contracts, and will play a key role in transforming how the department interacts with technology and information, the job ad states.

Responsibilities will include providing leadership and direction to the department’s IMT division; ensuring that officers and clients understand how to maximise their use of technologies; and overhauling IT hardware and software asset management strategies.

As part of the technology transformation focus, the chosen applicant will also work to foster a culture of innovation. In addition, the CIO will ensure the department meets compliance and governance standards and ensure new and emerging technologies are considered for adoption.
