The MetroSpec outdoor information point is a digital kiosk designed with inclusivity in mind. Engineered by Metromatics, this Australian-designed product supports use by individuals with hearing and visual impairments. It features a sunlight-readable display and is built to withstand weather conditions up to IP65 standards, making it a practical yet stylish addition to any outdoor public space.
Accessibility is central to its design. With a 13.3″ LCD panel at a wheelchair-friendly height, incorporating a voice annunciator and hearing loop system with ‘T-Switch’ for hearing aid users, it allows unimpeded access to vital information for those with sensory impairments. Installation is straightforward, requiring minimal infrastructure and offering the possibility of running on solar panels.
The kiosk’s display offers 1000 nits brightness with an auto-dimming feature, ensuring visibility in changing lighting conditions. Durability is also a priority, with vandal-resistant features like scratch-resistant and shatterproof glass so that it can withstand high-traffic environments.
Metromatics offers customisation for different needs, including screen size, touchscreens, CCTV and USB charging points.
The outdoor information point is suitable for local governments and councils to use to display public service announcements, for wayfinding, local news, to enable community engagement, for advertising local businesses or even displaying educational content such as history of the local area.
