DTA's Women in IT coaching program starts soon
There are only a few days left for government department and agencies to nominate candidates for the Digital Transformation Agency's Women in IT EL1 coaching program.
Nominations for the program — which will provide promising executive level 1 female APS staff with executive coaching and mentorship opportunities — close on 2 October.
The program will commence on 25 October, and will involve 10 facilitated three-hour training sessions, small group coaching, networking opportunities and events featuring guest speakers including CIOs, APS senior executive service and executive level 2 staff.
As well as this program, the agency plans to start taking nominations for the Women in IT executive mentoring program in early 2018. This program will match female executive level 2 staff with a mentor such as a CIO from another department or agency.
It will offer face-to-face mentoring, interdepartmental learning, facilitated group sessions and networking opportunities. The program is held annually starting in April or May each year and runs for 12 months.
Departments or agencies are able to nominate staff members for any of the Women in IT programs. Women looking to participate in the programs have been encouraged to contact their CIO or human resources team.
The Digital Transformation Agency took over responsibility for the Women in IT programs from the Department of Finance in December last year. They were founded by Dell Australia and New Zealand in 2005, and the company supports Orijen Consulting to facilitate the programs' day-to-day activities.
