nbn co to expedite launch of enterprise Ethernet

nbn co has announced a series of initiatives aimed at allowing retail service provider customers to better serve government as well as enterprise customers, including plans for an up to 1 Gbps symmetrical wholesale direct fibre broadband product.

The launch of the enterprise Ethernet product will be accelerated, with an industry trial set to commence this month and the service expected to commercially launch by the end of next year.

A new capped pricing model and tailored pricing to give more flexibility for retail providers will be introduced for nbn co’s business products.

In addition, nbn co has revealed it will provide dedicated case management by having enterprise engagement teams and field technicians work closely with retail service providers to ensure a smooth transition for government and enterprise network services.

Finally, nbn co has announced a new partner program aimed at the ICT industry to offer training and accreditation for technology providers and consultants to educate business customers about what they need to do to connect to the new network.

“We’ve focused our efforts on developing wholesale products and services for residential and small to medium-sized businesses during the early stage of the rollout. As we increasingly move into metro areas we are accelerating the development of our wholesale product suite to meet the needs of enterprise and government businesses,” nbn co Chief Customer Officer for Business John Simon said.

“We recognise larger organisations require a dedicated support team, which is why we’re scaling up and working with our partners to deliver the types of services these businesses expect with minimal disruption to their organisation.”
