Vic Department of Transport engages HCLTech for CEVP
The Victorian Department of Transport and Planning has engaged technology company HCLTech to automate the concession entitlement process for public transport users.
Under the agreement, HCLTech will develop and support a Concessions Entitlement Validation Platform (CEVP) for the department, to allow travellers on concession cards to provide instant proof of entitlement.
In an Australian first, the platform will enable the linking of a credit card with a concession card to provide additional payment flexibility. The platform will also be designed to make it easier for passengers to apply for and manage concession entitlements.
As part of the agreement, HCLTech will provide maintenance and customer centre support as well as training for the Department of Transport and Planning employees.
HCLTech plans to deploy digital workflow orchestration solutions and leverage agile development approaches during the CEVP rollout across the state, according to the company’s Executive Vice President and Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand Michael Horton.
“Our human-first approach to designing a solution puts the end user at the front and the centre,” he said.
“Over one in three Victorians travel on a concession card and some of them are among the most vulnerable in the community. HCLTech knows that it is important to get this right, using technology to support this cohort while also unlocking business value.”
