DHS revamps website to boost usability
The Department of Human Services has overhauled its website to make it easier for people to access Centrelink, Medicare and child support information and services online.
The new-look website at http://humanservices.gov.au was launched late last month following public testing.
As part of the upgrade, the language used for more than 90 payments and services has been simplified to meet plain English standards.
The layout has also been tweaked to improve usability, particularly on mobile devices, while an improved on-site search function and other tweaks have been added to improve navigation.
The trial version of the new site was launched on 28 June and was accessed by more than 57,000 people in the lead-up to the full launch.
DHS worked with the Digital Transformation Agency to improve the website, and the alpha and private betas of the website were assessed to ensure they meet the agency’s digital service standards.
“The new website makes it easier to find information, which will reduce the need for people to call or visit a service centre,” Minister for Human Services Alan Tudge said.
“This is just the beginning of our site’s improvements with further content and usability enhancements to be applied over the next year.”
