Genetec helps transit authorities expedite investigations
Unified security solutions provider Genetec has launched an upgrade to its digital evidence management system designed to help transit authorities speed up investigations.
Genetec Clearance now enables the remote retrieval of recordings from physical security systems across transit agency sites and fleets. The new capability has been achieved by integrating Genetec Clearance with the Genetec Security Centre Fleet Monitoring module.
Transit agencies can now use a browser-based system to link all their on-board and landside data into a unified solution that will help streamline the sharing of recordings with both internal departments and external partners.
According to Genetec product group director Erick Ceresato, the revamped solution will benefit transit security teams in Australia and New Zealand by reducing the time and resources required to assist with requests from both their internal legal and claims departments as well as external parties such as law enforcement agencies. Today these requests are still often delivered on physical media, a time-intensive and costly process.
“Transit security teams have the complex duty of managing highly distributed operations to ensure the safety of commuters and transit employees day in and day out,” he said.
“By automating the steps involved to fulfil video requests, and reducing the time it takes to deliver video evidence to reviewers, Genetec solutions free up security teams to focus on mission-critical activities. Having a unified security environment across stations and vehicle fleets opens the door to this kind of efficiency and removes bottlenecks that have traditionally impeded access to this data.”
