NASCIO lays out strategic plan for 2018–20
The US National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) has laid out its strategic plan for the next two years, revealing that it plans to make promoting open standards and best practices one of its top priorities.
The association’s strategic plan for 2018–2020 aims to support its vision of transforming government to ensure the public is fully served through innovation and the effective use of technologies.
As part of its new guiding principles, the association has included promoting strategic alignment of government technology investments and state business agendas, and to promote the CIO as the technology leader and driver of business innovation and transformation in government.
Goals and objectives for the next two years will include improving information-sharing among members, supporting transition planning and mentoring for state CIOs, and curating and promoting content on IT issues and their solutions.
“The executive committee came together in June to discuss the role we envision for CIOs in the world of state IT and how NASCIO can help advance that vision,” said NASCIO President and Chief Information Officer for the state of Oklahoma Bo Reese.
“I’m pleased to say that after two days of robust discussion, we believe the strategic vision as we’ve laid out for the next two years will have NASCIO and its members prepared to thrive in this ever-changing IT landscape.”
NASCIO will use its new strategic plan to guide the development of annual business plans and the establishment of associated KPIs for the two-year period.
