NSW taps Data Republic for data marketplace

The NSW Government has selected Data Republic to deliver a data marketplace as part of the government’s new digital strategy.

Data Republic will provide its Senate platform for the marketplace project. The company secured the contract through a tender process.

The Senate platform allows for the secure exchange of datasets between companies and other organisations. It has been designed to meet data privacy, confidentiality, security and governance needs by regulating how shared data is permitted for use on the platform.

“The Data Republic Senate platform will provide access to a broad range of datasets in a single, searchable location whilst securely managing access to shared data,” NSW Government Chief Information and Digital Officer Damon Rees said.

“Data Republic is an impressive local company and this agreement is a great example of the NSW Government working with our ICT partners to foster innovation and growth. It’s fantastic to see services like these in our own backyard — proof that NSW can be a global leader.”

The project is an extension of the state government’s digital transformation strategy, which was announced in May. A key plank of the strategy is enabling better policies and services through the use of data insights.
