OCR Labs secures TDIF Level 3 accreditation
OCR Labs has become the first private Australian identity provider to secure Identity Proofing Level 3 certification under the federal government’s Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF).
OCR Labs was already the first Australian provider to be accredited under the TDIF at an Identity Proofing Level 2.
The enhanced accreditation is for technology operating at the highest accreditation level possible without requiring in-person checks, and used for higher-risk transactions that require remote face verification.
The accreditation level equals the standard reached by the government’s own myGovID, and includes OCR Labs’ ongoing independent testing for its near-field communication (NFC) capabilities plus additional checks to ensure the individual being verified is still alive and active in society.
"Our elevation from IP2 to IP3 in just a few months is an exceptional milestone in putting us at the heart of solving digital identity solutions in Australia,” OCR Labs Head of Risk and Compliance Paul Warren-Tape said.
“Regulation that addresses identity document verification and biometric technologies is aligning. The TDIF accreditation in Australia is a positive step forward to ensure there are standards to protect Australians when using identity verification solutions.”
