Open Government Forum nominations open
The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet has opened nominations for members of Australian civil society interested in joining the next Open Government Forum (OGF).
The OGF is a multi-stakeholder group composed of representatives from government and civil society, and is tasked with working to help meet Australia's open government ambitions as part of the international Open Government Partnership.
The next OGF, which will cover the period from 2018–2022, will have responsibilities including overseeing the progress and implementation of Australia's Second National Action Plan, as well as developing the next Open Government National Action plan for 2020–2022.
Applicants for civil society members will be evaluated based on criteria including expertise relevant to the Open Government Partnership, a demonstrated ability to engage diverse community networks and previous experience working with and advising government departments.
PM&C announced that it plans to fill the positions with members that broadly reflect the demographics of the Australian community. To this end, the forum should be at least 40% women and 40% men, and ATSI, young Australians and residents from non-metropolitan areas have been particularly encouraged to apply.
Nominations will be assessed by a selection panel consisting of the co-chairs of the Open Government Forum — PM&C Deputy Secretary Barry Sterland and Chair of the Accountability Round Table Fiona McLeod — and a third member yet to be announced.
