SA Health Splunk deployment recognised
SA Health has received the Splunk Asia Pacific Innovation Award for Best Practice, in recognition of its outstanding thought leadership, platform design, implementation and collaboration in the health sector.
In 2019, the Government of South Australia and SA Health committed to strengthen their cybersecurity and digital environment monitoring capabilities. Central to this was the expansion of the Splunk platform, offering unprecedented insight into the digital health of all the department’s systems and networks.
SA Health has worked strategically with Splunk, Hannan & Partners and Chamonix IT Consulting to achieve one of the largest and most advanced Splunk deployments in Australia. The implementation comprising Splunk Cloud, Splunk Enterprise Security and Splunk IT Service Intelligence has enabled horizontal service visibility, increased operational efficiencies and a cyber and IT operations skills uplift for approximately 100 staff.
SA Health is the first Splunk customer to receive the Asia Pacific Innovation Award for Best Practice, which focuses on organisations that innovate and leverage the data platform to the fullest. The award recognises the SA Health team, led by Chief Digital Health Officer Bret Morris, demonstrating excellence and best practices.
“SA Health has delivered outstanding deployment of the Splunk platform, impacting the health sector so positively in a moment when it was more critical than ever. We couldn’t be more proud to recognise them for the exceptional platform implementation and collaboration,” said Ernie Hug, Area Vice President of Australia and New Zealand, Splunk.
“Splunk has demonstrated continuing investment into South Australia, not only growing our team locally but also further expanding with new resources. This is an important result of this commitment to the state.”
The implementation has evolved for SA Health to become the nationwide leader in Splunk IT Service Intelligence design and use in the health sector. Through the Splunk platform, SA Health was able to establish the means of monitoring the health of more than 20 critical sites and services that comprise the most vital signs of the digital services which underpin the main operations of the health system.
“It’s an honour for SA Health to be recognised on a global stage as we strive to continually improve our health services and enhance patient outcomes,” said Bret Morris, Chief Digital Health Officer, SA Health.
“In much the same way as a modern clinician relies on data to gain immediate insight into patient health, the Splunk platform allows us to have a deeper insight into the overall health of our digital environment and provide a more meaningful, insightful and available digital service across the health sector.”
