Trusted Digital Identity Framework updated

The Digital Transformation Agency has released the second component of the planned Trusted Digital Identity Framework, the rules and standards that will be used to build a nationally consistent approach to managing digital identities.

The second set of documents for the framework covers technical information such as the rules and standards for creating a digital identity offline to be transferred online, as well as profiles for interaction between identity providers and an identity exchange.

The new documents also cover the service operations and the integration testing requirements that agencies and organisations will need to meet in order to be accredited under the framework.

In addition, updates have been made to five existing documents within the framework, including the high-level overview and glossary for the framework.

With the publication of the second part of the framework, it now consists of 16 documents setting standards for aspects including how personal information is handled by participating agencies and organisations.

The framework also currently covers the usability and accessibility of identity services, how the identity system is protected against fraud, how identity services are managed and maintained, and how the framework itself will be managed.

The third part of the framework will be released for consultation in December. It will seek to establish rules and standards which will allow an individual to interact with government on behalf of a business. Updates allowing individuals to act on behalf of other individuals will be released next year.
