Wyndham City to develop smart city blueprint

Greater Melbourne’s Wyndham City Council has launched an initiative to develop a blueprint for transitioning into a smart city.

The Future City Strategy will seek to map out how the city will adopt and use new digital technologies in the future.

It will be developed in consultation with the community and smart city stakeholders, and public feedback can be provided until the end of November. The council also plans a series of community engagement sessions for the publication.

Wyndham City’s Smart City Portfolio Holder Aaron An said the strategy will seek to ensure Wyndham remains innovative and connected.

“Advances in technology and data analysis provide us with the tools to better understand and manage the functioning of our city and to plan and deliver services more effectively. Similarly, we need to understand and respond to the challenges faced by our city through technological change,” he said.

“This important strategic road map will inform how technology and innovation solutions can address our urban challenges and shape how our citizens, visitors and businesses work, play and live.”
